An urban farm proposes an addition and strategic alteration to an existing 1946 home connecting a multi-level house to a thriving front yard "food forest" in hillside East Los Angeles: Re-envisioning the interior and exterior in the process. An elongated great room 60-feet in length connects the living, kitchen and dining areas with views of the greenery beyond. By folding the hardwood floor up the wall and onto the ceiling, we created a "wood womb" where the 14-feet long brass island is born providing warm reflected light throughout the day. The primary bedroom opens to a dramatic "gloriette" rooftop terrace overlooking the entire neighborhood. This home was featured in the November/December 2022 issue of California Homes magazine.
